Recreational Dance Styles

(2nd Grade & Up)

Ballet

We first introduce dancers to the foundations of ballet in a fun and encouraging environment. Students learn basic ballet positions, simple barre and center exercises, and develop posture, coordination, and musicality. Classes focus on building strength and flexibility while fostering discipline, and confidence. We use ballet technique to create a lyrical style routine for recital performances.

As dancers progress, class expands on technique with more challenging barre work, center combinations, and across-the-floor progressions. Emphasis is placed on proper alignment, developing strength and stamina, and building artistry. Students also begin to explore more complex musicality, turns, and jumps.

Jazz

Jazz is an energetic and upbeat style of dance that blends technique with personality and performance. In class, dancers work on strength, flexibility, coordination, and musicality while learning progressions across the floor such as kicks, turns, and leaps. Choreography combines sharp, stylized movement with fluid transitions, allowing dancers to explore rhythm, style, and self-expression. Jazz training also enhances performance quality and stage presence, making it a fun and dynamic complement to ballet and other dance styles.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is a high-energy, rhythmic style of dance that focuses on musicality, coordination, and personal style. In this class, dancers learn age-appropriate choreography inspired by street dance and commercial styles, while developing strength, agility, and performance skills. Movement includes grooves, footwork, isolations, and freestyle elements, encouraging creativity and confidence. Hip Hop is upbeat, expressive, and a fun way for dancers to connect with music and movement in a fresh, modern style.

Tap

Tap is a lively and rhythmic style of dance where the feet become the instrument. Dancers learn how to create sounds, rhythms, and musical patterns using their tap shoes while building coordination, timing, and precision. Classes focus on technique, clarity of sound, and musicality through exercises, progressions, and combinations. Tap encourages both discipline and creativity, allowing dancers to explore everything from traditional Broadway-style tap to more modern rhythmic styles.

Acro

Acro blends the fluidity of dance with the strength and agility of acrobatics. In this class, dancers work on flexibility, balance, strength, and control while learning skills such as rolls, handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, and more advanced tumbling as our students progress— and progressing safely at their own level. Emphasis is placed on proper technique and conditioning to ensure safety and confidence when performing acrobatic elements. Students also learn how to seamlessly connect acro tricks with dance choreography, creating a powerful and expressive performance style.nts also begin to explore more complex musicality, turns, and jumps.

Musical Theater

Musical Theater dance combines jazz technique with acting and storytelling to bring Broadway-style performances to life. In this class, dancers learn to use facial expression, character work, and stage presence alongside strong jazz-based movement. Choreography is inspired by classic and contemporary musicals, allowing students to explore different performance styles while building confidence, versatility, and theatrical expression. Musical Theater is perfect for dancers who love to entertain and shine on stage.
